Netflix released a first look of Matt Groening’s new animated series Disenchantment.
The famed creator of The Simpsons and Futurama steps away from contemporary life and science fiction to medieval fantasy. Set in the fictional kingdom of Dreamland, we’re introduced to an alcoholic princess Bean, her feisty elf companion Elfo (Quite an inspiring name, isn’t it?), and Bean’s person demon Luci.
Disenchantment will include a cast of comic actors including Broad City’s Abbi Jacobson as Bean, Nat Faxon as Elfo and Eric Andre as Luci, according to Deadline. The trio will encounter monsters and humanoids you would see in a fantasy from ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, and trolls.
The cast will include some familiar voices seen on Futurama and The Simpsons like John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, and David Herman. They’ll be joined by Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding, and Lucy Montgomery.
Groening and Josh Weinstein will serve as executive producers and the animation will be done by Rough Draft Studios, which previously worked on Futurama.
The series will be 10 episodes and will be released on August 17 on Netflix.
